With USB-C 2.1, you can charge the battery of any laptop

The new USB-C 2.1 specification doubles the power from 100 W to 240 W, allowing you to charge the battery of any laptop, including the most powerful for gaming environments.

As happened in its day with mobile phones and the standardized charging connector, something similar could also become a reality in the laptop market if the new specification of the USB-C release 2.1 connector finally catches up with the main brands.

And the fact is that the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) has just announced that the new USB-C 2.1 specification manages to double the charging power from the current 100 watts to 240 watts, which will allow charging the battery of any portable equipment by powerful as it turns out.

With the current specification of 100 W it was already possible to charge the battery of many ultralight notebooks, despite which, some brands continue to bet on offering their proprietary power supply connector.

This continues to be a nuisance for users who demand greater standardization so that we do not need a type of charger for each brand of laptop, as well as share it with other devices.

The new specification announced for USB-C paves the way towards what could be a greater adoption of the connector by everyone, including also those laptops with a gaming profile that require much higher load values.

To support the 240 watts of power, thicker, newer specs USB-C cables and chargers will be required. The organization highlights that it is the USB-IF mode with an extended power range, to guarantee 5 A and 50 V.
