Intel has added five new processors to the consumer range and another five for the professional environment of its 11th generation Intel Core H series codenamed by which they have been known so far: Tiger Lake-H.
Both groups include
three eight-core chips and two other six-core chips. They have a TDP value
of 35 W, except for the flagship Core i9-11980HK, which has a higher value that
reaches 65 W. They are all intended for notebook computers.
In fact, Intel says
that soon there will be more than 30 ultralight laptops (20 mm or thinner) in
which the processors of this new generation that were already available for desktops (Intel
Core Rocket Lake-S) will be installed .
The new processors promise significant performance improvements over the previous 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake, with up to a 19% performance improvement in multithreaded tasks.
In fact, Intel has
placed great hopes in these chips, with which it intends to face its most
immediate competitor AMD, which has achieved greater
relevance in the laptop market with the good work of the chips belonging to the
Ryzen 5000 family.
See the article where
we offer you all the laptops announced with AMD Ryzen
5000 processors.
In the words of
Intel, this 11th generation with a 10-nanometer SuperFin manufacturing process,
has up to 8 CPU cores and 16 threads, in addition to Turbo Boost mode and the
possibility of reaching 5 GHz.
The CPU can directly
access the high-speed GDDR6-type memory that is connected to the graphics chip,
allowing gamers and gaming enthusiasts to have a much higher fps range.
The notebook
processor offers 2.5 times the total PCIe bandwidth to the CPU compared to 10th
generation H-series processors, and three times the total PCIe bandwidth
compared to other processors in the industry.
Among the new
features of this generation of chips, the following stand out:
- Up to 20 PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes
with Intel Rapid Storage Technology in Raid 0 - and up to 44 PCIe lanes
including 24 PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes.
- Memory support up to
DDR4-3200.
- Thunderbolt 4 compatibility
with speeds up to 40 Gbps.
- Intel Killer 6E (Gig +)
Wi-Fi connectivity to optimize power consumption when using a second
display.
- Dual integrated Display Port
to improve screen resolution.
Intel's release also
includes the new Intel vPro H-series processors - led by the eight-core Intel
Core i9-11950H and the Intel Xeon W-11000 series notebook processors.
This ensures a host
of extras with the more professional market in mind as vPro adds
enterprise-specific security features and management tools, including Intel
Shield hardware and a host of other security measures.
It is therefore the
turn of laptop manufacturers to update and update their laptop configurations,
which little by little we will see how they incorporate the use of these new
processors to their portfolio of equipment that they put on sale.
Given the global
shortage in the supply of semiconductors and what happened with the shortage of
GPUs and advanced graphics aimed at gaming equipment, due to the fact that they
are used to encrypt cryptocurrencies, gaming laptops can be a good stimulus for
game lovers of PC.
Thus, these new Intel
processors that have now been presented can be a torrent of fresh air for this
market in which over the last year it has suffered from a shortage of equipment
in stock despite the high demand.
Take a look at our
ranking of the best gaming laptops of the year, some of
which already include some of AMD's Ryzen 5000 chipsets in their
specifications.
